Four Haiku

Maggie Hess

Four Haiku photo

Agenda of one
crow, interrupted by squirrel.
Moment of chaos.

You were the hands who
watered the jade, who mailed
Squares, who founded paper cranes.

I didn’t walk to
where I am; but flat rock skips
over tense water.

Girls straw in teeth, crack
pecans clenching their fists, then
off to climb a tree.
